Perez, Waldman claim individual honors
Mike Perez of Lower Lake breezed to the overall win, but Santa Rosa Christian earned the team victory in the Coastal Mountain Conference cross country championship Wednesday at Spring Lake Park.
Santa Rosa Christian and Willits’ boys will both end up with a pennant for the gym wall.
The two teams tied for the league title based on dual meet and championship meet wins.
Perez ran the 2.97-mile course in 15:48, with St. Helena’s Brian Coles second across in 16:02.
Perez is the first Lower Lake Champion since Ben Grennwell back in 1984.
Willits’ Cheyenne Waldman won the girls race in 20:23, helping the Wolverines to the team title.
Waldman is Willits first girls Champion.
Willits’ girls co-champs with SR Christian who took 3rd in finals.
