Vintage’s senior Kendall Bawden defended her league title (17:00.1) with junior teammate Skylar Waite close behind in 17:09.2.
Freshman Ninel Ho of Casa Grande (17:39.5) and Piper Chafen of Justin-Siena (17:46.7) came in 3rd & 4th.
Vintage sophomore’s Esther Belusko (17:50.2) and Audrey Schallon (17:59.0).
It appeared Vintage would run away with the championship title but their 5th score was out of the top 25 and Casa Grande nearly caught them falling just a single point short of an upset 42-43.
It was so close that if American Canyon’s Vianey Martinez, who took 2nd in the JV race (21:33.9), had run varsity Casa would have won the championship.
Even if Vintage had placed 2nd they still would have taken the pennant because of their undefeated league season. VVAL history 2025 VVAL Standings
