Lots of college track action by locals

With both cross country and Track & Field both going on at the same time there is always something happening.
Some of our former prep stars are making waves in 2021 in the track scene.

Sierra Atkins

Analy star Sierra Atkins is at UC Davis.
On February 27th she ran the 8th fastest 5000 ever for an Empire athlete with a 16:51.03 to win the Tri Team Challenge.
Then on March 4th she blazed the 8th fastest 1500 ever for an Empire athlete with a 4:26.29 3rd place time at a Tri-Meet.

The Empire also had some fast men’s 5000 at the Spring Break Invitational 3/13/21.
Maria Carrillo star Colton Swinth, now at Cal Poly placed 6th in 14:30.15.
Only a dozen Empire runners have ever gone faster.

Rory Smail
Emmanuel Guzman

In the same race former and current teammate Rory Smail ran 14:42.19 for 11th and former Vintage star Emmanuel Guzman, also at Cal Poly ran 14:49.46 for 12th.

Brian Schulz

El Molino star Brian Schulz, now at UC Santa Barbara was in the same meet taking 4th in the 1500 at 3:53.25.
On March 4th he covered 5000 meters in 14:43.84 to win a Tri-Meet.

Ryan Searl

Also at the Spring Break Invitational was St. Helena’s Ryan Searl, now at UC Santa Barbara.
He ran a leg on the winning 4×100 team in 41.68 which is one of the fastest relay teams any Empire runner has ever been on.
He had a PR taking 2nd in the 200 at 22.40 (0.9) and also placed 2nd in the 100 at 11.02 (0.7).

Landon Mispagel

That same meet saw Justin-Siena hurdler Landon Mispagel, now at UC Santa Barbara, take 2nd in 400 hurdles (57.46) and 4th in highs in 15.29 (0.9).

Brayden Glascock

Santa Rosa hurdler Brayden Glascock won the GCU Outdoor Invitational 400 hurdles in 59.52 for Grand Canyon College in February.

Sydnie Rivas

On the women’s side Maria Carrillo’s Sydnie Rivas, now at Cal Poly ran at the Spring Break Invitational in the 5000 finishing in 18:03.94.

Sydney Dennis

Petaluma’s Sydney Dennis, now at Utah Valley University long jumped 17′ 0 at the UNLV Winter Challenge and triple jumped 36-9.25 at the UNLV Spring Opener.

Gianna Troppy

Justin-Siena’s Gianna Troppy, now at Biola sailed the discus out to 114-2 and high jumped 4-9 at the Battle for SoCal.
