Maria Carrillo girls win Ed Sias because of 6th & 7th runners

Does not get any closer than this.
The Puma girls competed in the huge Ed Sias Invitational (450 girls finished) on 9/14/24.
In cross country low team score wins.
The final score in the girls race had Carrillo winning by a single point because of their 6th & 7th runners.
In cross country the top five runners count for your team score but your 6th & 7th runners can knock back other teams scores.
The Puma’s top five Katherine Choe, Carlie Trenam, Andi Fogg, Carley Schubert, Isabelle Gross did their teams scoring.
But it was Savannah Fogg and Isabella Dajalos that kept Northgate from defeating them.
Had these two not bettered Northgate’s 5th & 6th runners the way they did the score would have been tied at 74 and Northgate would have been declared the winner off of their 6th runner.
Just a reminder to all the 6th & 7th runners out there that they really do count.

Puma’s also won the Girls’ 2 Mile FS/JV UNLIMITED race.
