Windsor traveled to Maria Carrillo for their NBL Oak dual meet on Wednesday April 23, 2025.
Typically dual meets have some exciting competition but normally the most exciting marks come at the Invitationals and post season meets.
Especially in an event like the eight lap 3200 meters.
To set the stage the huge Dublin Invitational had 24 heats of the 3200 with over 600 runners competing.
In that race Maria Carrillo’s Austin Petrik set the 2025 Prep best at 9:35.69. Meanwhile in another heat Windsor’s Corbin Post ran 9:38.11 with Windsor’s Xavier Surgeon timed at 9:43.30. Post then lowered the Prep best to 9:30.32 last weekend at the Viking Classic.
So once again you would not expect a dual meet to even produce a sub 10:00 much less what happened.
Here are the dual results with not one but six runners below 9:55. What’s also mind boggling is that all the runners are underclassmen.
In comparison the fastest 6th place in any NBL league finals in history was 9:54.98 by Owen Pugh of Maria Carrillo in 2019.
Word is that Austin Petrik and Xavier Surgeon did the pace setting up front with the others following.

Only one Redwood Empire runner has ever run a faster 3200 than Post in a dual meet and that was 59 years ago by Montgomery’s Bob Waldon on Santa Rosa High’s dirt track. Santa Rosa’s Steve Guerrini is the only one to beat Ervin’s and Dawson’s time in a dual.
Post and Ervin both moved into the All-Time top four in the class records as well.
