For the second year in a row Sonoma Academy’s Rylee Bowen has taken home the 4th place medal in 1600.
The first two laps were relatively slow for this group but but the temp an hour after this race was still up at 93 degrees.
Rylee ran in second through the first lap behind Haley Herberg with everyone else all together with them.
Eventual winner Maddy Denner lead at the 800 in 2:28.56 with Rylee still holding second and all 12 within striking distance.
On the third lap Denner opened up a gap with a 68.12 lap with Rylee still second but 2.62 seconds behind. Rylee ran her third lap in 70.4 opening up a gap on the rest of the field but would pay for it on the last lap.
Denner ran her last lap in 68.21, 2:16.33 final 800, to crush the field finishing in 4:44.89 to run the fastest time in California this year and 13th in the nation.
Olivia O’Keeffe, 3rd place last year, pulled off a 70.77 final lap too finish second in 4:51.02
Annie Boos took third in 4:52.67 with a 71.09 last lap.
Rylee last lap was 74.61 to earn the fourth place medal in 4:53.92.
