8:30am Division II Boys’ Race
This was the toughest division to make it on as an individual.
And the individual who got the very last spot was our own Jack Moore of Napa.
Moore ran the second fastest time by an Empire runner on the day at 15:57.7 to place 11th, with a 15:57.8 in 12th not moving on to state.
Moore’s time was the 29th fastest of the 701 NCS finishers and the 16th best of all the seniors.
Moore’s placing is the best ever for Napa since joining Redwood Empire.
Not far behind him was teammate Joshua Nunez-Torres (16:01.8) in 15th. He was the 7th fastest Sophomore in the whole meet, 6th fastest from the whole Empire and 42nd in all the NCS.
The Napa team placed 10th in this division and had the 5th fastest team time of Empire teams.
Granada was the team champions with the second fastest team time of all NCS teams at 1:19:36. Going into the meet they were the 8th ranked State team.

9:00am Division III Boys’ Race
Campolindo was the team champion with the fastest team time of all NCS teams at 1:18:32. Going into the meet they were the top ranked State team.
They averaged 15:43 for their top five runners and had a 36.5 second spread between them.
They were led by junior Clark Gregory who had the fastest time of the day at 15:14.7.
For the Empire Cameron Jones was our fastest runner of the day at 15:50.8 for 19th in the division. Only six juniors in the whole meet had a faster time and he was the 9th underclassman of the meet. Jones will be third Team All-NCS.
The battle for the fourth and last team qualifier was extremely close as Maria Carrillo edged Terra Linda 127-138. Both teams had the exact same team time at 1:22:02 but it was the Puma’s tight team grouping, 54 seconds between 1st and 5th runner that sealed the deal.
This is Carrillo’s 19th boys team to go to state.
Not far behind was Analy 6th and Windsor 7th. They also had the 19th and 21st best team times of the whole meet respectively.
Like Moore, in almost the same time, Windsor’s Xavier Surgeon earned the final state individual berth in 13th at 15:57.8 for the 31st best time of the meet. First Analy boy runner since 2019 to make state.
Teammate Michael Irvin had the fifth fastest time on the day from the Empire but just missed moving on. He was the 6th fastest sophomore of the whole meet.
Analy’s Logan Dickson had the Empire’s 7th best time of the day at 16:12.3. Teammate Jack Stoumen, 16:31.9, had the 3rd best time of all freshman.

The Empire has no schools this large.

12:30pm Division V Boys’ Race
Going into the meet San Francisco University was the top ranked team in the State. Only Campolindo and Granada had faster team times today.
They dominated the division scoring a low 19 points with team places 1-2-3-6-7.
The individual runner who did not move on to state was faster than the advancer from division I.
Healdsburg was a solid third as they easily earned one of the four state berths in this division. Only the three local division III schools had a better team time. It was our best team placing of the day.
Sophomore Lucas Welty placed 4th for our best individual placing of the day running 15:59.4. He was the 5th fastest sophomore of the whole meet. This is the first time the boys team has made state and first runner since 2022.
Healdsburg got strong placings from Jake McWilliams (13th) and Domenico Cornilse (18th).
Qualifying as an individual for Technology was Aaron Derango in 11th. He is Tech’s second boy ever to make state.
