Qualifying Friday 3:00 p.m The top 12 will advance to the finals.
Finals Saturday 4:30 p.m.

He has a best this year of 167-08 that he got at the Viking Classic and places him =18th on the Empire All-Time list and is six feet farther than any other sophomore we have ever had.
He qualified by winning at NCS with a 159-02 mark.
That gives him the number 17 seed in the state.
It will probably take about 165 feet to make the final, so on a good day he can make it.
Clovis North’s McKay Madsen is the heavy favorite with a best of 211-06 this year. One other thrower has a 200 foot mark this year.
Vicente’s brother, Santiago, placed 7th last year with a 179-02 mark.
That is also Cardinal Newman’s best ever place in this event.
The last time the Empire had a state champions was 1958 by Bill Hook, Ukiah 166-8.


400 Relay

Qualifying Friday 5:15 p.m.
Finals Saturday 5:50 p.m.
American Canyon’s 4X100 Relay team
Jordan Locke, sophomore, Jona Budu, junior, Jordan Burse, sophomore and Khairee Baker senior.
American Canyon broke the Empire record in their VVAL finals at 42.15.
Cardinal Newman broke that mark with a 42.07 at the NCS Qualifying.
In the final however American Canyon placed third at NCS in 42.38, 3rd Performance All-Time, with Newman in 4th.
American Canyon will be in Heat 2 of 3 at State for the Qualifying and will be out in lane 9.
They are seeded 22nd.
American Canyon has only been around since the 2010/11 school year and only joined the Redwood Empire in 2019 spring season.
I am not aware of them ever sending anyone to state before.

Qualifying Friday 5:30 p.m. The top 12 will advance to the finals.
Finals Saturday 6:30 p.m.

He has a best this year of 60-09.50 that he got at the NBL finals and places him third on the Empire All-Time list.
He qualified by winning at NCS with a 59-03.75 mark, which is the Empire’s 50th All-Time Performance.
That gives him the number seven seed in the state.
Last year as a sophomore he placed 20th at state with a 50-06.75.
Clovis North’s McKay Madsen is the heavy favorite with a best of 68-04 this year.
Bertoli has a chance of any place after that. He also has the longest throw of all the undergrads with the six ahead of him all being seniors.
Newman’s Jake Joerger placed 5th last year at 58-8.75.
The last time the Empire had a state champions was 1941 by George Souza, Vallejo 52-4.25.
The best place Cardinal Newman has gotten in this event was by it’s current coach Brian Chase, 3rd 60-3½ 1995.

His fastest time is 10.62 +4.8 in taking 2nd at the NCS Redwood meet. Which is the fastest FAT 100 meter time EVER in the Redwood Empire.
At the NCS MOC meet he placed third in 10.68 +1.9, for the Empire’s Legal Wind Record.
Only the converted 100 yard times by Mel Gray, Montgomery 1967 may be faster at 10.54 9.4y, ran 9.4 four times. Gray was our last State Champion in the 100.
Baker will be in Heat 1 of 4, running in lane 7.
He is seeded 16th of 29.
The top seed is the NCS winner De La Salle’s Jaden Jefferson at 10.30 +1.9. He will be in Bakers heat.
The number 9 seed is at 10.57.

4X800 Relay

Finals Saturday 9:00 p.m. No qualifying.
Analy’s 4X800 Relay team
The team is made up of Bear Vanden Heuvel, senior 2:02.06, Owen Dawson, junior 1:58.65, Cormac Gaylord, senior 1:57.31, Quince Holman, junior 1:58.22.
They placed second at NCS with a 7:57.04, making them 4th All-Time in the Empire.
That gives them the number 14 seed in the state. There are 18 teams entered.
They are the Empire’s first boys team to make it to state in this event. This is only the second year of this event at State.
Analy’s last boys medalist was Dave Swanson, 4th high jump at 6-9 1982.
