Montgomery’s Hanne Thomsen took more than three seconds of the Redwood Empire 1600m record while placing third in the mile at 4:40.58 at the New Balance Indoor Nationals in Boston on 3/16/25.
Thomsen ran in fifth for most of the race before sprinting to the lead at the bell lap. On the final 200 meter lap Brooke Strauss of Connecticut raced to the win (4:39.53) with Claire Stegall of Tennessee taking second (4:39.89). Their times were the 3rd, 4th and 5th fastest prep times in the Nation this year.
