Gray ran 220 yard dash in 20.7 in 1967, that time still stands as the fastest Empire 200 ever at a converted 20.82. The time broke the National High School record that he had co-held at 20.9 with four others.
Gray ran four 100 yard races of 9.4 in 1967. All equaled the National High School record and the last, at the State Meet, broke the California State Meet record.
