Montgomery junior Sadie Sanders, competing for West Coast Striders, ran the Empire’s third fastest 400 ever at 54.68.
Only two races by Santa Rosa’s Kirsten Carter have ever been faster.
Sanders competing in the finals of the USATF National Junior Olympic Championships in Texas placed 6th in the 17-18 age group race.
Four of the five girls ahead of her will age out for next years competition.
