The Bear Cubs took a small crew to De Anza for one last tune up before spring break. Although the conditions were not ideal, with cold temperatures and intermittent rain, the SRJC Track and Field team put up some solid marks.
Jay T Luis starting the day with off with a collegiate PR in the Long Jump with a mark of 20’11.5”. This mark places Luis 12th in the Big 8 Conference. Austin Vaccaro hit 3 consecutive PRs in the discus finally landing his furthest throw at 125’9”. This throw ranks Vaccaro 9th in the Big 8 Conference.
On the Women’s side, Emily Johnson and Tianna Jardstrom continued their supremacy on the Track with a pair of personal bests and event winners. Jardstrom won the 400m with a 60.77 and 2nd in the 200 with a time of 27.04. Both marks were her second-best time of the season. Emily Johnson finished 2nd in the 100H with a time of 15.76, ranking her 3rd in the North and 8th in the State. Johnson would go on to finish second in the Javelin with a huge PR of 104’3.5”, this would rank her 5th in the North and 9th in the State. In her Collegiate debut, Ashleigh Barr won the High Jump with a jump of 4’7”.
Next week, the Bear Cubs will host the Pat Ryan Invitational at Santa Rosa Junior College. Hammer Throw at Sonoma State on March 24th at 3:30pm. All other events will be held at Bailey Field on March 25th. Field Events start at 10:00am, Running Events start at 2:00pm.
