The Bear Cubs kicked off the season at the Pat Ryan Invitational/Big 8 Preview held at Spring Lake. The Women’s team came out on top and took the win. Leading the way was Sophomore Alexandra Van Holt, who put on a dominating performance. Taking the win with a time of 19:40.1, Van Holt was ahead of the 2nd place runner by nearly 90 seconds. Coming in second, Elisa Quintero-Cantu held a 30 second lead off the 3rd place runner from DVC with a time of 21:01.1. Freshmen Kayla Carreno held strong for 9th overall with a time 23:38.0
The Men had a strong showing, finishing 3rd overall scoring 70 points. The squad was led by Sophomore Max Hidalgo who finished in 5th place overall and a time of 22:04.8. Sophomore Tallen Theiss finished in 14th place overall with a time of 23:03.4. Followed by a solid pack of Isaac Vasquez, Noe Vieyra and Ted Broome in 17th, 18th and 19th respectively.
The Bear Cubs will return to action on September 22nd at the George Brooks Memorial Invitational at Hidden Valley Park, hosted by Diablo Valley College.
