The Redwood Empire came away with three individual winners and one team championship in the big Clovis Invitational.
The elite girls race was suppose to be a national match-up between Montgomery’s Hanne Thomsen and Ventura’s Sadie Engelhardt but Engelhardt was a no show leaving Thomsen to run away with the meet cruising to a 23 second victory in 17:05 over the 5,000 meter course.
For the Empire only two of our national champions, Julia Stamps and Amber Trotter have ever covered this course faster. Thomsen’s time surpassed all our other National and State champions.

On the boys side we also had winners from Montgomery’s Jude Devries in the Medium Size Varsity Boys race and Trenton Dawson in the Small-Medium Frosh-Soph Boys race as he lead the Maria Carrillo team to the team championship.
Devries time was the 24th fastest out of more than 1900 finishers. There were over 1400 girls.
